Summary

George Fred Kagimu is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of the Certified Accountants. He has a very strong and wide working experience in Accounting, Finance, Administration, Marketing and Training. His working experience is mainly in the Oil Industry where he worked for 25 years, 10 years of them as an expatriate in Rwanda, Nigeria, France, Mayotte, Mauritius and Zambia.

His professional working experience and exposure enabled George to develop a skill of outgoingness and adaptability. He is able to work comfortably with people of different backgrounds and levels. George has a sound skill of Administration and supervision of teams and team work, a skill he effectively practiced and developed as a manager in different positions and also as a Mayor of Mukono Municipal Council.

Kagimu is a self-motivated and result oriented person and is comfortable with the management strategy of participation in target setting.
George believes in practicing empathy and equity, a personal attribute that he developed as a leader in various positions in church, schools, Rotary, motorsport and as President of Ugandans living in the diaspora in France, Nigeria and Zambia.

George has an unquestionable high level of integrity and transparency based on his clean record whenever he has served or worked.

Work Exeprience

  • January 2021, Stood as MP candidate, Mukono Municipality and was 2nd.
  • 2016 to May 2021: Mayor of Mukono Municipality; Est population of 500,000 people.We made a master physical plan for about 60% of the Municipality, Built a Youth Centre, Bought 6 new vehicles including an Ambulance, started a new administration office, improved health centre IV which was later upgraded to a general hospital.Lobbied for garbage truck from external donnersand and improved the garbage collection and management system. Opened many new connection roads. Installed solar security lighting through external lobbying. Planted 20 kilometers of street trees. Greatly improved local revenue collection.
  • Oct 2020 to Date Vice President DP Central Region.
  • June to Date: Chairman DP, Mukono District.
  • 2018 to Date: Chairman, TOTAL Uganda Alumni Club.
  • 2008 to Date: Managing Director, Festino Cite Limited Created a motorsport racing circuit and also constructed a man-made lake.
  • 2004 to Date: Chairman, Board of Director of Multinvestors (U) Ltd.
  • 2004 to 2008: Sales and Marketing Director, TOTAL Zambia. Directly supervising a team of 30 people and about 500 people indirectly. Improved sales in the mines equivalent to 90 million dollars in a year. Overseeing the refinery production of Indeni Petroleum Refinery. Responsible for the sales and marketing function of the subsidiary worth 150 million dollars (annual turn over)
  • 2003 to 2004: Charge de Mission TOTAL Outre Mer, TOTAL Paris, as a TOTAL International Expatriate. Developed new marketing services in different countries which included electronic fuel card system, shops, service centres and improvement fuel selling services and booking at stations.
  • 2000 to 2003: Sales Development Manager, TOTAL Nigeria. Developing new service facilities and electronic fuel cards.
  • 1986 to 2000: Accountant, Sales Representative, Commercial Sales Manager, Retail Sales Manager and Acting Sales Manager, TOTAL Uganda. Worked in all regions of the country.
  • 1997: Involved on a team to start a new TOTAL Company in Rwanda.
  • 1983 to 1986: Sales Assistant, Caltex Uganda.

Sports & Hobbies

  • 1991 to 2000: Motor Rally driver in Uganda, and among the top 10 ceded and winner of an event in 2000. Made a Bungee jump at Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe/Zambia Border) 20th July 2008. Made a Submarine Expedition in Indian Ocean in 2004.
  • School sports include boxing, Thai Kwando and swimming. Uganda junior champion chess competitor 1981. Traveling.

Personal Character/Strengths

Reliable, Honest, Self- driven, adventurous, independent minded, result motivated, love challenge, team player, enduring, easily fit in different work environment. But easily disturbed by team players who fail to take responsibility of their own in a team.

Voluntary/Community/Social Services:

  • 2018 to Date: Chairman TOTAL Uganda Alumni Club.
  • Leading a club of ex-employees of TOTAL Uganda coming together for social and professional objectives,
  • 2015 to 2016: President, Rotary Club of Mukono, Uganda.A group of professional and business volunteers, coming together to uplift the livelihood of the communities in line of education, health, economic empowerment and, water and sanitation among others.
  • 2010 to date: Chairman and Vice Chairman, Uganda National Chamber Of Commerce and Industries – Mukono District.
    A business Association of business persons with the objective of promoting business and commerce.
  • 2000 to 2008: President of Ugandan Associations living in Nigeria and Zambia.
    A welfare and immigration concern association.
  • 1986 to 2001: Vice Chairperson RC2 Banda, Nakawa Division. Civil responsibility in local government administration of communities.
  • 1974 to 1978: Head Prefect, St Henry’s College Kitovu, Masaka.
    Leader of the biggest boarding school in East Africa then (1,200 students.
  • 2010 to 2014: President of the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda. Uganda won the Africa Motocross championship for the first time.
  • 1988 to 2000: Chairman Mbuya Parish, Treasurer Nsambya Deanery, and Secretary General the Christian Laity in Kampala Archdiocese.
